Castings/Machining & Cleaning Castings play an important role in our daily lives. Although often painted, coated,
or even hidden behind plastic parts, castings offer a stable inner structure for almost all
consumer and industrial products.
In all of our casting applications, we utilize finite element analyses throughout the design
and manufacturing process to ensure the highest quality casting performance.
Our Casting Machining Equipment Includes:
9 CNCs - Toyota FH 55, FH 60, FH 80 and FA 800
Our Casting Cleaning Equipment Includes:
12-60 HP Wheelabrator Shot Blast with power and free casting conveyor system
Pangborn 34 cu. ft. tumble blast
Melting Process Our core material is stored inside to eliminate oxidation, and we use twin-looped Ajax channel
furnaces that provide constant stirring of the metal for a consistent mix during the melting process.
Our advanced processes ensure more reliable chemistries which provide better iron quality in your final product.
Melting Equipment Includes:
Four 40-ton electric induction furnaces
Annual melt available capacity of 35,000 tons
Gray iron ASTM A48 Class 25-35
Core Making and Molding Capabilities We offer three unique types of core making processes that ensure a perfect
fit for almost any application:
Our warm box process offers significant cost savings for multiple-core OEM quantity applications
such as pumps, heat exchangers, automotive components, and industrial truck components.
The Isocure process used with cores up to 415 pounds is ideal for machine bases, pedestals
and other large core application needs.
Pepset is a reliable, cost effective process for large, flat castings or specialty applications
including bearing housings, rotors, pipe flanges, and fittings.
Core Making Equipment:
Cold Box - Isocure Process 80-415 lbs.
Air Set - Pep Set 850 lbs.
Warm Box - 5-87 lbs.
Molding Equipment - Green Sand Horizontally Parted
A-Line: Herman Mold Master - 312 Casting Wt.
Flask Size 40 X 50 10/10
B-Line: CD Indexing Line - 700 Casting Wt.

Going Green
Annually millions of tons of scrap metals are recycled and turned into useful products. Our castings
contain over 85% recycled content. Daily we reclaimed and reuse 90% of our sand in our molding processes.
Weil-McLain recycles spent sand through beneficial reuse programs. The foundry sand was at one time sent to the
landfill.
In 2000, Weil-McLain went through a rigorous waste classification process to obtain permission to beneficially
reuse the foundry sand. The Weil-McLain sand has been used in commercial asphalt projects including the Hummer
Test Track in South Bend, Indiana and is currently the only foundry sand approved for borrow (fill) use by the
Indiana Department of Transportation.
